Kicker sub replacement
Has anyone here replaced the stock kicker sub in their srt4? The bass, as we all know, is pretty weak, and I want to replace it with a 10" w7 and a 500w d-class JL amp. I want to reuse the stock enclosure, because it doesn't take up much trunk space, but I doubt I'll be able to mount the amp above it. Maybe a custom bracket would work... I know I'll need to run new wires, and will probably need a new head unit, which is where I'm running into problems. I want to keep the stock 6-disc changer, but from what I've heard, aftermarket radios won't work with it. If you've done this, what did you have to do, and any pics?
Is it possible to just wire in a set of RCA pre-outs to the stock radio? Last edited by Wenuden : 04-03-2008 at 05:00 PM. |

SurfinCowboy installed 2 kicker subs and amps in his srt using a custom wooden box for the opposite side.
If you go with a different sub and amp make sure you reverse mount the sub if you use the original box since it's too shallow for most subs to fit in. You can buy adapters that connect to the rear speaker wires to give you pre-outs.
